Strum Stick Workshop
SEPTEMBER 14, 2019
Participants will build their own Strum Stick (dulcimer guitar), an easy-to-play three-string instrument, while learning to use our laser cutter, cnc router and woodworking tools. All participants will build their own Strum Stick and leave with a one-of-a-kind musical instrument to enjoy for years to come. Cost for the workshop is $30, which includes the all materials needed for your very own Strum Stick.

Everyone is invited to come to the Maker Lab and enjoy some time painting and hanging out with friends. Join a group of “not so starving artists” led by Cathyann and Becca for a relaxing day of creativity and inspiration. This isn’t a workshop, just a gathering of people who love to create new art and make new friends. Paints, brushes and canvases (and snacks) will be provided for FREE.

Bluetooth LED Lamp

Registered participants will build and program their own desk lamp using an Arduino Nano microprocessor. Participants will need to bring their own laptop for programming and design work. Cost for the workshop is $30, which includes lunch and all the materials needed for your very own LED desk lamp.

Alumni families and friends are invited to join us for six fun and FREE make-and-take activities. This event is designed to get kids and parents in the Maker Lab for hand’s on making with some easy, entry-level projects. We’ll have a fun selection of ACU spirit items for everyone to make and enjoy on Saturday during the Homecoming parade, tailgating events and football game.

We’re inviting all ACU students, faculty, staff and alumni (and families) to drop in and see what’s new in the Maker Lab. We’ll have FREE hands-on activities, tours and tool demonstrations, conversations and refreshments. Wind Chimes Workshop

Join us on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 10am-4pm for the Wind Chime workshop. Shan Martinez and Darren Wilson will be leading participants through the process of cutting and tuning chimes and assembling a beautiful set of hanging wind chimes.

2020 ACU MAKER FEST
APRIL 16, 2020
Maker Fest is a fun, family-friendly event open to all. This event will be held in the Maker Lab and Library Atrium and is open to EVERYONE. Admission is free, which includes many make-and-take activities, tool demonstrations and free refreshments. We’ll have a wide variety of makers showcasing their creations, including: electronics projects, adaptive devices, plywood furniture, laser creations, textiles and many, many hand-crafted pieces. You won’t want to miss seeing any of these inspiring projects.
